#5 - The importance of functional medicine and how it impacts your health with Joyce Bergsma

Welcome to the fifth episode of the Eva Women Podcast!

Amsterdam nutritionist for over a decade, Joyce Bergsma of EatLiveLovefood gave us a helping of words of wisdom about nutrition, good health and achieving a healthy relationship with food. Inspired in part by watching her own family members deal with health issues such as stress, dieting, depression and anxiety, she became motivated to improve her own eating habits and eventually based an entire business on helping others do exactly the same. Listen to her educating us on how to prevent these issues. She talks about functional medicine, mental health issues as well as our guts, good and bad bacteria, toxins, vitamins, and digestion.

“Functional medicine is an approach that looks at identifying and addressing the root cause of diseases. This is always dependent on your own genes, the environment that you’re in, the lifestyle you lead”

Joyce Bergsma

“I get a lot of clients who come to me to talk about how to manage stress and prevent it from causing serious problems. People who come to me with hormonal issues, and a large part of that is connected with stress”
